PELEMOL® GMR is predominantly the mono ester of glycerol and ricinoleic acid (12-hydroxy-9-cis-octadecanoic acid). The hydroxyl group in the carbon chain and the hydroxyl groups on the glycerol backbone make the product an excellent moisturizer and skin protectant. We can attribute these properties to hydrogen bonding with the skin surface. PELEMOL® GMR is completely vegetable derived. It forms w/o emulsions and is recommended at 5-20% levels in skin and topical pharmaceutical preparations as an emulsifier or co-emulsifier, refatting and protecting the skin.
