Hydropuntil is a natural product made via a unique enzymatic treatment to reduce the molecular size of the Indian fig polysaccharide to increase bioavailability. It is harvested from Sicily, Italy, using Indian fig cladodes as the starting material. The product was tested on keratinocyte cell lines and demonstrated antioxidant efficacy when used at 1% (w/w). An in-vitro evaluation on keratinocytes after treatment with 1% Hydropuntil (w/w) showed a reduction in interleukin 1-alpha production, confirming that Hydropuntil acts as a protectant and anti-inflammatory product. Also, at 3% (w/w), the product increased skin moisturization by 27% and 35% at one and two weeks, respectively. Skin redness and irritation was also reduced by 37.5%, again confirming the ability of the Mediterranean “aloe” phyto-complex to protect the skin.
